Innovation Excellence Model

Innovation manifests itself in the economic realization of ideas. The core objective of innovation management is to ensure that the right ideas are developed, promoted and shaped into actual innovations within an organization.

The Innovation Excellence Model serves as the foundation for a systematic analysis and benchmarking of your innovation management. The model is scientifically based and was developed in accordance with the CEN/TS 16555 standard and project management DIN ISO 21500. This model provides a structured framework that divides innovation management into three key segments.

Leadership and governance defines the organizational environment that builds the foundation for innovation activities. Processes and projects stand for the central procedures required for the effective realization of innovation projects – from the initial idea to the market launch. Innovation performance reflects the success of innovation and the economic value that result from effective innovation management.

Digital Innovation

In the age of digital technologies, organizations must develop their innovation competencies in order to master the digital transformation and realize digital innovations, including the use of artificial intelligence.

Based on the Innovation Excellence Model, this section aims to identify the critical resources, competencies and activities needed to drive digital innovation. There is a particular focus on the specific outcomes of these innovation efforts.

Overall, this section allows your organization to assess and benchmark your organization’s readiness for digital innovation.

Sustainability Innovation

Organizations are increasingly integrating sustainability goals into their innovation strategies in order to improve their business model. Therefore, innovation processes have to be expanded and adapted to effectively integrate environmental and social factors.

Based on the Innovation Excellence Model, this module identifies the necessary resources, skills and measures to promote more responsible and sustainable innovation. In this model, we define sustainable innovation performance as the impact of innovation on economic, environmental and social sustainability.

Overall, this section enables an assessment and benchmarking of your organization’s readiness for responsible and sustainable innovation.
